Our Goals
As the Biomedical Informatics (BMI) Outreach Group of Emory University known as “Open BMI”, we aim to bring biomedical research closer to the community of Atlanta. Through our activities, we also strive to champion diversity and inclusion in the sciences, particularly motivating young girls and underrepresented groups to consider STEM and Biomedical Informatics careers.
Past Events
We successfully hosted a workshop titled “Does AI recognize me?” at the Atlanta Science Festival, where parents and middle school students engaged with concepts of AI. Our team showcased interactive posters, demos, and presentations, turning complex ideas into accessible, hands-on learning experiences. Read more in depth about our latest activities on the Emory BMI website news page below.
Upcoming Events
We’re excited about prospective events such as Local School Outreach Packages designed to inform and inspire students about the potentials in the Biomedical Informatics field. Other events include collaborations with local coding clubs, public health students, and sporting communities to showcase the intersection of Biomedical Informatics with various societal aspects.
